Cause:

The only cause of CF is a person’s genetics, it is not something you can acquire later in life, you’re either born with it or not. A human’s genetics, or their genes, inform the body how to compose your physical makeup from muscular, to skeletal, the tint of your dermis, and in some cases illness. We usually have 2 copies of those genes…one copy from each parent, that make up our body’s characteristics. However, mistakes do occur and we call these mistakes mutations. These mistakes or mutations may have little to no adverse outcome or may even have positive impact, making your eyes blue/green instead of brown, making you resistant to cold, or able to see well underwater, even giving you super dense bones. However, on the other end of the spectrum they could create devastating genetic mutations that can manifest in things like being born blind, deaf, as a congenital amputee, or in my case being born with Cystic Fibrosis. The specific defect that causes CF is in the CFTR gene, or Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator.
